Born in Paris, Alex studied architecture at the Architectural Association and Oxford Polytechnic before founding Michaelis Boyd with Tim Boyd in 1995. Alex’s portfolio ranges from residential new build and renovation, to hotels, luxury private members’ clubs, restaurants and bars for clients in the UK and worldwide. Alex has led significant commercial projects for clients such as the Soho House Group, including Soho House Berlin, Soho Farmhouse and The Groucho Club. He was also instrumental in the creation of the Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn. Other commercial projects include the award-winning Sandibe Safari Lodge in Botswana and the newly opened Duddell’s restaurant in London Bridge. Current projects include five new residencies at the prestigious Sugar Beach Resort in St Lucia, Sabor – a new London restaurant for chef Nieves Barragán and the interior architecture for Battersea Power Station’s new residences, due to complete in 2019.

Putting speakers at ease, he teases out their narratives and back-stories to entertain and inform his audiences.
