Each month, MINI and Maison&Objet share their hand-picked selection of three exciting design events that await you on and offline. In January, the focus is not only on colours, but also on fruitful collaborations between British icons from the worlds of fashion and cars, creative dialogues between two leading French artists, and lastly a fun-filled meeting of a designer’s inventive mind and a Korean museum for kids.

COLLAB.

Two institutions. Two icons. A single future: sustainable. Sir Paul Smith and MINI are embarking on a brand-new collaboration. The famous English designer has already added his own unique touch to the Mini’s traditional look, coming up with a limited edition and a version emblazoned with his iconic colours.  Both brands have always pledged to make the most of the resources they have available and use them responsibly, and this new partnership will truly shine a light on their joint commitment for a better future. What will that mean, exactly? We’ll have to wait and see.

DIALOGUE

CITY02

Colours that make the walls sing, spilling over onto the floors, their reflection extending into mirrors: the inaugural exhibition at the newly unveiled space in Kamel Mennour’s Parisian gallery is a mirage of rhythmic colours, an evolving and elusive sculpture. The brand-new venue curated by Pierre Yovanovitch is the stage for an unprecedented dialogue between two leading French artists who both enjoy a global reach: Daniel Buren and Philippe Parreno.

ENCOUNTER

003

A playground for kids, a garden filled with sculptures and a library that encourages imaginative play. That’s Moka Garden. Spanish designer Jaime Hayon has truly let his imagination and sense of humour run wild across all three spaces. Featuring a snake-like bookcase maze and imaginary creatures, the venue aims to encourage and cultivate “Nature Literacy” in young South Korean city-dwellers.
