Useful object
“My bike. I’ve been cycling around Paris on it every single day for the past 30 years. It’s a Dutch bike, made by Vanmoof. I love its unique, pared-back style, the fact it’s so robust, and I’m delighted to see my city introducing changes to improve safety by encouraging soft mobility and cycle tracks.”
Futile object
“The Babylone chandelier. Although I’d call it decorative rather than futile. It’s my most iconic design, a hybrid piece that serves as both a light and a planter, enabling everyone to bring a little piece of nature into their home or office. Manufactured by Greenworks in Sweden since 2011, this timeless piece has now had a make-over with the inclusion of an LED light and the creation of a smaller version, which is 40cm wide.”
Good luck charm
“My Huni Kuin bracelet. These hand-crafted bracelets made by Indians from the Amazonian Huni Kuin tribe never leave my wrist. They give me the strength and courage to pass on their values: protecting the forest, solidarity between communities, respect for ancestral cultures. The designs on these ritualistic pieces of jewellery are incredibly modern.”
A souvenir
“The chloromask. Designed for a joint project on air quality in our cities launched by Alice Audouin, Art of Change, this yellow and black bee-like mask is filled with chlorophytums, plants that are renowned for having the ability to absorb pollutants.”
Current crush
“My côte&ciel backpack. I carry this French-made laptop bag around with me everywhere I go. It’s extremely elegant, original and practical, with a really big external pocket that I can pack all my shopping into when I pop into the organic food shop on the way home from work.”
