Paris Design Week 2021 - Commines (Factory)

Within the framework of the Paris Design Factory, dedicated to young creation, the Commines area, in the Marais, opens its doors to a sharp selection of emerging designers. Ask for the program!

Paris Design Week Factory, these are three places in the Marais dedicated to young creation. Paris Design Week, like Maison&Objet, is dedicated to finding new talent and is putting its foot in the door to tomorrow’s signature. While the Joseph Gallery on Froissard Street will receive international designers, the Gallery on 116 Turenne Street will exhibit young graduates who have not yet been published or new publishing houses. The third place is the Espace Commines, where you can see a selection of edgy creations, published in very small series. "We selected the proposals according to several criteria," explains François Leblanc, design consultant, in charge of curation. The theme of the year was Desirable Development, and we looked at design practices that opened up new perspectives. The pieces presented come from local know-how, in a reasoned spirit, that is with a saving of means and energy, to order. We have ensured that as many women as men are chosen. Selection is extremely plural, offering new perspectives to ancient know-how, or projecting technology into original practical spheres. "The younger generation surprises me every time," remarks François Leblanc. They are very committed, looking for solutions for everyday life, without thinking of themselves as stars. They fade behind their production. ".

To complete this selection, three important digital actors will be present physically. The Danish platform Adorno, specializing in the healing of emerging designers. Between "Makers" and crafts, their very contemporary selection is aimed at an audience of collectors. Then Catawiki, the main site for the sale of exceptional European products. His team collected an exceptional set of prototype designers, which went on sale on the last day of the exhibition. Finally, Kristen de la Vallière, a talent discoverer and founder of the Say Hi To, the Platform which has 150,000 followers on Instagram (@sayhito), will present her selection of singular talents.
