The 2021 edition of Paris Design Week announces a more than joyful and festive return. Never before had so many participants registered so early.
Thanks to all those who have already joined us and welcome all those who will in the next few days! September will certainly mark the time of re-unions, after a long separation.
The time of rebirth also, because creation never stopped. The collections presented at Paris Design Week promise to be exceptional and will make this 2021 edition one of the most interesting. Outside the Maison&Objet exhibition, the districts of Paris will be animated around the capital’s four most dynamic sectors in terms of design. Showrooms, shops, galleries, workshops, restaurants, hotels, but also institutions will give to see exhibitions and ephemeral installations: an aesthetic walk, punctuated by evenings and openings from Thursday 9 to Monday 13 September.
Paris offers this unique blend of history and modernity, art and culture, French style, and openness to the world. You can thus go to the Palais Royal at the Parisian showroom of the Manufacture de Sèvres, created in the 18th century, to discover the art ceramics just out of workshops. Follow the inspiration of Mériguet-Carrère, rue Saint Placide, whose palette of paintings originated in French heritage. Discover the legend of Steinway and Sons, boulevard Saint Germain, which practices perfect crafts at the service of the greatest concertgoers. Everyone will have access to these craftsmen dedicated to the exceptional tailor-made: Pouenat, an art ironworker, in the charming passage Dauphine, the new showroom of Art and Floritude on Saint-Germain boulevard, and its luminous sculptures. In the Marais, Empreintes, the marketplace des Ateliers d’Art de France offers on three floors the purchase of a selection of national handicraft production.
The architects Gilles and Boissier exceptionally open their apartment-showroom avenue Montaigne for a fleeting exhibition. On Rue du Mail, the Lelièvre fabric house has been perpetuating the tradition of furnishing fabrics for four generations. The great international signatures are there: Cassina, boulevard Saint Germain and rue de Turenne, Artemide, avenue Daumesnil and Vitra, in the 9th district. The new Scandinavian wave is following in their footsteps: Muuto, on Boulevard Saint Germain, and it's neighbor Karakter. The world has changed, which is why the theme chosen this year by Paris Design Week is "desirable development". Development, because the pandemic has shifted the planetary consciousness into action: to produce sustainably, well, and fairly, to value craftsmanship, natural raw materials, and renewable resources at the same time as technological progress. Desirable, because well-being, generosity, joy, and envy are the indispensable conditions for the success of an attractive and sustainable system. Join the movement! The closing date for registration is June 30th.
