rom the Marais to Bastille, Monceau to Saint-Germain, and Opéra to the Palais-Royal, the circuit has never offered so much variety. It was a showcase for all types of expert skill, for every generation and for all styles. The event converged with a rare intensity toward a common theme: desirable development. This was reflected in the exhibitions dedicated to young designers. The first-ever edition of « Vivement demain » (See you tomorrow), which brought together, at the Sorbonne, the work of students from 8 design colleges, was seen by 3 500 persons over two days. The three Paris Design Factory exhibitions in the Marais, dedicated to young French and international design houses, attracted 12 500 visitors.
And finally, the “Frugal” exhibition at the Hôtel de Coulanges, held by the Association for sustainable design, amazed 20 000 curious individuals with its innovative solutions for saving the environment. Major institutions and museums opened their gates, offering exceptional settings for unique creations, such as abstract gold-plated panels from Pierre Bonnefille at the Musée Guimet, poetic flowers in recycled plastic from William Amor at the Musée Cognacq-Jay, and monumental outdoor installations at “Design sur Cour” in the Marais. Paris shone with all the distinction of its art of living, revealed through the AD Circuit of decorators and interior designers. 37 installations from renowned talents, exhibiting their fine furniture in an historic setting, such as with Pierre Gonalons at the Hôtel du Sully, at galleries, such as for India Mahdavi or Fleur Delessalle, or in their own showrooms, specially decorated for the occasion, as done by Gilles et Boissier. The circuit was enhanced with collections from design houses and demonstrations of fine crafts, for a comprehensive overview of all kinds of talent.
Open to all, design lovers and professionals, this September event is a testament to a wide audience’s love for the richness and vitality of the Parisian aesthetic heritage. In the venerable tradition of the decorative arts, proven talents rubbed shoulders with the youngest designers, thus ensuring truly delightful continuity for the future of the field. See you next year!
