Musée Carnavalet – The History of Paris
The oldest museum of the City of Paris reveals its new look, after four years of restoration under the guidance of Chatillon Architectes, partnered with Snøhetta and the NC, Nathalie Crinière agency. Located in two mansions in the Marais, this institution devoted to the history of the capital, from prehistoric times to today, offers a visit that has been totally redesigned around enhanced architecture and new spaces, particularly the basement level and its stone-vaulted rooms, now open to the public. By the way, don’t miss the current exhibition dedicated to Henri Cartier-Bresson. Feeling a little hungry? Head over to the Jardins d’Olympe, the pop-up restaurant located within the museum’s two courtyards.

Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature
After a two-year closure for renovations, the Musée de Chasse et de la Nature is reopening with a refurbished format, a new exhibition, and especially, a new, 250m2 level of former attic space converted by the Scénos-associés firm. Here, you’ll find artworks and installations from contemporary artists related to the museum’s collections, such as the imposing Forêt (Forest) from Eva Jospin, or the intriguing Bibliothèque en plumes (Feathered library) from German artist Markus Hansen, with its books sorted to look like a rainbow. And those are not the only surprises in store! For its temporary exhibition, Damien Deroubaix invites you to explore a mysterious, primitive cave…

Let’s turn the spotlight on Art et Floritude. This illustrious bespoke light-fixture maker originally from the Loiret region is opening its new Parisian showroom within a former painters’ studio that opens onto a courtyard in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. For Paris Design Week, this hidden space will be transformed into an extraordinary, lush secret garden. With a nod to wine-harvest season, light sculptures representing metallic vines and porcelain flowers, crafted by this house’s artisans, will adorn the walls and ceiling. "Frugal" Exhibition at L’Hôtel de Coulanges
Design isn't exempt from environmental issues. How can we bring together design and eco-sustainability? On the initiative of the "Association pour un design soutenable" (Association for sustainable design), 40 French creatives provide concrete, future-oriented solutions. Presented in the Marais at the Hôtel de Coulanges, a former 17th-century residence transformed into a creative hub, the "Frugal" exhibition will unite virtuous solutions from these designers, artists, and landscape architects, who are hard at work reinventing their industry with everything from recycling to the development of innovative organic raw materials (seaweed, mushrooms, shellfish).
From September 9-18 at 35-37, rue des Francs Bourgeois, 4th arrondissement.
