Many lighting showrooms are participating in Paris Design Week. The opportunity to be nourished by their dazzling talent in the art of revealing, not to mention new amazing applications.
Handcrafted, made-to-measure or industrial lighting, traditional reissues, technical innovations... Paris Design Week offers an infinite range of inspiring solutions to illuminate the most beautiful architectures. The most amazing one comes from the Italian master: Artemide. Ernesto Gismondi, its founder, disappeared at the end of 2020. This trained engineer, steeped in technological innovation, humanity, and design, had time to initiate the Integralis program. The cutting-edge scientific research in his workshops developed luminous panels whose waves can do nothing less than disinfecting the atmosphere. Adapted to hospitals and office spaces, controlled by an application, they allow modulating the wavelength of LEDs, white during the day, ultraviolet in the absence of human presence. UVC inhibits bacteria and viruses in the air, even that of COVID 19... Design is not left out because, in addition to the panels adapted to professional spaces, Artemide has equipped many models in its collection with this technology. In September, Artemide will also present "Alphabet of Life", designed by the Swedish group of architects and designers BIG, led by Bjarke Ingels. This luminous alphabet invents a new pure and round typography allowing very contemporary possibilities for writing, signage, and signs. The AOL offices and the new RATP headquarters have already succumbed. In addition, La Linéa, a system of flexible illuminating tubes, allows the design of shapes suspended in space.
Offices, retail, contract, it is also the domain of the Belgians of Wever Ducré. Their plethora of catalogs imposes an ultra-modern and refined aesthetic adapted to all types of places. In September, in a new showroom, they will also present their associated brands: The Austrian Xal, with whom they share a study office in Barcelona, and the Swedish Wästberg. This organization helps to address the most complex issues. Wever Ducré and Xal position themselves on high-end public projects as well as on the home. In addition, Wästberg offers a panel of very beautiful signatures, with, among others, Inga Sempé, Jasper Morrison, and Nendo... “One eye sees, the other feels”, the quote of the painter Paul Klee accompanies each day its founder.
At Saint Paul Market, Disderot’s premises will host all Manufacture de Lux brands. This label, founded by Disderot, Serge Mouille, and Rispal Publishing, aims to revive the history and preserve the heritage of their signatures in common values of excellence, craftsmanship, and quality. During the thirty glorious years, Serge Mouille, Rispal, and Pierre Disderot designed or edited the most emblematic luminaries of the 50s to 70s. Made in France and small series, their collections were joined by those of Ligne de la Demarcation and Fosfens which share the same values. Still in the chapter on the iconic design of the 50s, we will witness the revival of the Lunel House, and its mythical luminary Diabolo XL 01, known for its articulated arm and its conical lampshade in colored metal. Agathe Lunel, the little girl of Raymond, the founder, will exhibit this first reissue in four colors, made in France, in a gallery 27 rue Notre Dame de Nazareth, in the third arrondissement. Other models will follow.
Boulevard Saint Germain, Art et Floritude opens its new showroom in an artist’s studio in a courtyard. The place will be transformed into a lush "secret garden" by the craftsmen of this workshop for making custom-made luminaires whose manufacture is located in the Loiret. Chiseled and golden metal vine leaves, in homage to the autumn, will fill the walls and ceilings, dressed in metal lace and porcelain flowers. The house will receive by appointment only, and we can attend demonstrations of work on porcelain. Finally, in the 16th arrondissement, the lobby of the Brach Hotel, designed by Philippe Stark, will be occupied by Yellow Pop and its neon lights in all colors. This joyful brand created two years ago, offers to meet all desires, for events, hospitality, and private individuals thanks to their tailor-made design. Creators, like Jonathan Adler, have also designed collections. Suns, inscriptions, animals, rockets, faces, paint the walls like tattoos. The walls have the floor.
