Rêves de Lilou is an association whose projects aim to brighten up the surroundings of patients and nursing staff. They are looking for donations to help them organise a large fete next September.
In October 2018, interior designer Jalil Amor passed away in the oncology ward at Saint-Louis AP-HP hospital in Paris. Before his death, he told his friends and family how much better it would be to be able to spend one’s last moments in a rainbow of colour, rather than surrounded by a dreary hospital interior. His remark didn’t fall on deaf ears and his two sisters, Assia and Safia, decided to create “Rêves de Lilou, des couleurs à l’hôpital”, an association whose vocation is to redecorate adult cancer wards. “Beauty can be healing. A bright, colourful, happy and dreamlike hospital decorative scheme can contribute to the mental well-being of patients. It’s something that’s often seen in paediatric wards and our idea was to help adult patients change their ideas and enjoy the same feeling of well-being”. This wonderful idea won the unconditional support of Paris Design Week and Rêves de Lilou was invited to organise a charity event next September.
A double room and a waiting room at Saint-Louis hospital have already been renovated thanks to the generosity of building companies, architects and Serge Trigano, the founder of Mama Shelter hotels with whom Jalil Amor worked. A second double room as well as the nurses’ staff room are in the planning stage: “The staff room hasn’t been redecorated in ages and yet the hard-working carers need somewhere to recharge their batteries”, Safia continues. To raise the necessary funds, a fete will be organised at the end of Paris Design Week in the beautiful cloisters of Saint-Louis hospital on September 12th and 13th with a children’s village, art exhibitions and food trucks etc. More than anything, the association would like to organise a big design bric-a-brac sale for which they require donations of furniture and objects from design companies and the designers themselves. You can of course also simply donate money. Over to you!
