From September 8 to 15, as part of Paris Design Factory, the best of contemporary Brazilian design will be exhibited at the Galerie Joseph, 7 rue Froissart, where the international delegations will be present.
They are the heirs of Oscar Niemeyer, Sergio Rodrigues, or closer to us, the Campana brothers. Ten designers were selected from the Raiz project. It is a collective that brings together a total of 90 creators from all regions of Brazil. The project is led by the "Sindmoveis" of the city of Bento Gonçalves, which is a union of the furniture industries of this region where the bulk of Brazilian design occurs. The exhibition is supported by APEX, Brazil's international trade promotion agency.
Chairs, benches, tables, objects, porcelain, and ceramics testify to the vitality of the creation of the new generation, very keen to highlight its diversity. « In Brazil, everything is mixed, says their manifesto. Accents, climates, ideologies, landscapes. With a laboratory of ideas as vast as our demographic borders, our creations portray the identity of the country: diversity. ». The elegance of the chairs of Aristeu Pires, all curved in Jiquitiba wood, the aerial design of Guto Indio da Costa, also architect and urban planner, the comfort and design of the furniture of Jader Almeida, are in line with the rich hours of Brazilian modernist design. The exuberance of Sérgio Matos’ creations is very inspired by the lush nature, with swings and armchairs like giant flowers, woven by craftsmen. A bench of Paulo Alves plays on the shades of several exotic wood species. The ceramics by Camila W.R de Souza (Studio Le motif) are decorated with raw pink quartz. An inspired design that is rarely seen in Paris.
