In the heart of the Left Bank, the brand's new flagship is a demonstration of Italian sophistication.
In the next run of Paris Design Week, a stop in the new Flagship Store Molteni&C|Dada is a quiet, luxury, and voluptuous experience. Located at Rue des Saint-Pères, it stands at the corner of Rue de l’Université in the majestic building of the former post office. No less than seven windows, over 550 square meters, staged by Vincent Van Duysen, the artistic director of the house. Once through the heavy door, one is tempted to whisper in these walls of stained concrete and wood veneers, illuminated with travertine and brass finishes, organized like an elegant apartment with living room, bedroom, office, and three kitchens under the Dada brand. Like an iron hand in a velvet glove, Molteni&C deploys all his weapons of seduction, from marble and dark wood kitchens, to the furniture of great design signatures, Rodolfo Dordoni, Ron Gilad, Foster + Partners, Jean Nouvel, Patricia Urquiola, and of course, Vincent van Duysen. Each library is illuminated with soft light from an invisible LED strip.
The height of the shelves can be adjusted to the nearest millimeter, to adapt perfectly to the works and books that will be available there. The kitchen doors are hidden in the thermo treated oak veneer walls The carpets are soft and deep. Same refinement in the dressings, with gently lacquered doors of 5 matte layers, equipped with air purifiers and perfume diffusers, and with drawers covered with leather. A very elegant bar, designed by Armani/Dada, reveals behind gilded bronze blinds, elegant wine cellars, and a small kitchen covered in fine marble.
Established in 1934 in Giussano, in the province of Monza and Brianza, Molteni&C is part of the history of Italian design. Its founder, Angelo Molteni, took part in the founding committee of the first Milan Furniture Fair, inaugurated in 1961. Still based in Giussano, the workshop is designed to adapt to all the demands of tailor-made and its design studio can respond to the largest building sites, whether in retail or to furnish buildings with a hundred kitchens. In Paris, the ultra-contemporary space is punctuated by reprints of iconic pieces by Gio Ponti, in the Heritage collection, a reminder of Molteni&C long love affair with great designers. Round D.655.1armchair and D.655 dresser, characterized by drawers painted white by hand, with handles applied in different wood essences. "This mix between the ages proves the timelessness of the Molteni spirit," said Michele Morgillo, France director. The experience is spectacular mastery.
