Present worldwide, this Danish online sales platform specializes in curating independent designers. It will exhibit a sharp selection at the Commines space.
Original, surprising, rich: browsing the Adorno website for a collector is like an open book you wouldn’t want to let go of. Classified by discipline and by country, the platform virtually exhibits design and craft pieces produced by independent "makers", carefully selected by its curators. "Since 2017, we have represented a wide range of designer communities, highlighting the beauty of each local scene and celebrating their creators," says Stephen Markos, chief curator at Adorno. Furniture, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, and art design, in single pieces or limited editions, the selection is aimed at an audience of enthusiasts, collectors, prescribers, and institutions. Adorno ensures quality selection, facilitates the transaction, and makes available means of transport directly from the workshop to the buyer.
For the first time, Adorno will present its vision of "desirable development" at the Espace Commines, as part of the Paris Design Factory. The platform already collaborates online with French designers and hopes to get closer to collectors and, above all, to build personal links with the community. We will discover the exploration of sustainable materials that different selected talents do, rope for Wendy Andreau, hand-dyeing, and transparent acrylic for Dorian Renard, the very personal work of AuchKatzStudio, BehaghelFoiny, Sabourin Costes, Audrey Guimard & Marie Jeunet. By promoting this highly pragmatic, avant-garde research, Adorno hopes to bring some form of inspiration to the industry, awaken the desire of collectors, while promoting creative freedom. "We are specifically looking for independent designers working on the border between design, art, and craft. Less concerned with trends, our curators seek both emerging and established designers who dare to challenge the status quo. As independent artists, their emotions, environment, skills, and experiences give us a glimpse into the future of modern design.
