What is a totem? A sacred object? An everyday object that gives you all the feels? An iconic item? Our two participants, Marie Victoire Winckler and Tim Leclabart, will debate this matter throughout this talk.
They offer the singular similarity of having chosen the name “Totem” for some of their designs.

After a career in galleries and antique shops, where he rubbed shoulders with historical design and the young, contemporary scene, and a life-changing Brazilian adventure, Tim Leclabart decided to open his own design studio in Paris in 2019. He showed his first two coffee tables at PAD London and Atelier Jespers in Brussels, which were inspired by the lines of Brazilian Modernist architecture. His collaborations with the Mouvements Modernes and Ketabi Bourdet galleries allowed him to develop other projects – from pieces that are part of the fine tradition of the French Decorative Arts, to new and unusual sculptural concepts. Aware of designers’ responsibility in committing to a sustainable future, his recent projects attempt to address this by reducing their carbon footprint and using scraps and recycled and eco-friendly materials. Tim Leclabart has developed his own emotional signature style. From timeless elegance to dramatic post-Modernist references, the simple, pared-down lines of his pieces elevate the dense colors and materials he juxtaposes.
