DIMORESTUDIO
Founded in Milan in 2003 by Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci,DIMORESTUDIO is a full service, global architectural and design studio that spans residential, retail and hospitality interior design projects, as well as produces furniture, textile and lighting design. From the outset, DIMORESTUDIO’s vision of bold, unexpected, color-saturated design and the creation of its richly alloyed and layered atmospheres, set the firm apart. At its core the duo’s sophisticated aesthetic rests on the art of contradiction : it is dramatic yet contained, opulent yet controlled, fearless yet rooted in the cool classicism of 19th century antiques, and Milan’s own stern rationalist architecture and mid-century design lore. It is a catalog of everything Moran and Salci themselves love. The secret is in the daring mix and the transporting mood. The allure is in the constant willingness to reinvent and transform. Moran, a North Carolina-born former graphic designer, and Salci, a former art director at Cappellini who was born in Arezzo in Tuscany, are a perfect fusion of talents. The story of their journey begins in a dilapidated apartment in Milan’s Brera district, where the duo slowly began adding layers of decoration, found objects, modern art, important mi-century pieces, and finally, furniture and lighting they designed and produced themselves. The Via Solferino apartment, now unified with a second apartment, continues to be the heart of their work today. It is a location not only for their 35 person offices but for DIMOREGALLERY which features a rotating installation of the pair’s latest work, as well as a platform for masters of design, artists and young designers championed by the duo.
