The Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris, design section has been awarded to Jean Baptiste Fastrez, whereas the Emerging Talent prize goes to Natacha & Sacha.
Every year, Paris City Council awards two prestigious prizes to Parisian designers. On November 29th 2019, Jean-Baptiste Fastrez was honoured by a jury presided over by India Mahdavi. Jean-Baptiste was born in 1984 and studied at ENSCI-Les ateliers. After working as an assistant to the Bouroullec brothers, he founded his own studio in 2011. The same year he received the Grand Prix du Jury at the Design Parade Villa Noailles de Hyères. His work is currently distributed by Moustache and Kvadrat and exhibited at Galerie Kreo. The second prize, intended to encourage emerging talents, was awarded to Natacha Poutoux and Sacha Hourcade. The duo from the young eponymous agency “Natacha et Sacha” carry out innovative research into products and their use. They have, for example, devised a multi-facetted computer system that can be shared by the members of a team and a heating system built into a rug! Their work is universally acclaimed and they were also amongst the French Rising Talent Awards showcased by MAISON&OBJET from 17-21 January 2020. As Paris Design Week partners these prizes, the designers’ creations will also be on show in September 2020 during the event. You will also be able to discover Jean-Baptiste Fastrez’s current projects at the same time at Maison&Objet.
