Every year, Paris Design Week gives designers the freedom to exhibit a project outdoors in a prestigious Parisian location.
In 2019, design collective Ublik presented its five-metre high stool in the courtyard of the hôtel de Soubise. This year, inspired by Maison&Objet’s theme (Re) Generation!, the young design generation has surpassed itself. Houle Studio presents a monumental needle pointing skywards that catches sunrays and invites observers to interact with the sun’s light by means of a system of polarising filters, while other surprises are in store elsewhere with works by three young designers who are making a name for themselves. Jasper Zehetgruber’s sculpture visibly grows with every donation it receives; Maxime Lis presents EP-260 a project for a structure that filters magnetic waves; and Orson Van Beek’s ornamental statue OXO invites the viewer to take a closer look at the world outside. Finally, Ublik is back this year with an ephemeral installation entitled Isocène, a sort of monolith positioned in the courtyard of the hôtel d’Albret.
